It has been one rainy summer! This doesn’t stop me from finding ways to enjoy it though 🙂 I went through some of the products I have been using the past few weeks and came up with my favorite summer combos.

Since I was working all week we waited until today for our mini 4th of July celebration. Nothing says AMERICA like homemade apple pie. Enjoy!
Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients:
1/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 heaping tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 egg
2 tbsp water
2 cans of sliced apples drained
2 sheets of prepared pastry dough
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375. Pour apples into a large mixing bowl with flour, sugar, flour and vanilla. Stir until apples are coated. Spray a pie dish with nonstick spray and lay the first sheet of pastry dough down and use a fork to make holes throughout the bottom. Pour in the filling pressing down lightly. Next I cut strips from the 2nd sheet of dough. Half I laid across the pie horizontally and the other half I laid across vertically making a lattice pattern. Using a spoon I crimped the dough around the dish. Mix together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush across the top of the pie. Sprinkle raw sugar on the top (optional) Bake for 40 minutes until crust is brown and the apple mixture is peaking through the holes bubbling. Let cool for at least 1 hour. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Happy belated 4th of July!
